Home Care Services

Home Care Services plays an important role in  maintaining a person's independence and providing support for family members. At Murrayville Pharmacy we have teamed up with Nurses and Home Care Aids who have extensive experience in their field. We provide services for  frail elderly, disabled people, palliative care,  and those convalescing after serious illness. We can also help with discharges from Hospital, providing a seamless system of client care from hospital to home.

About Home Care

Home Care provides health and support services for people with health needs who wish to remain in their homes. It offers the care and support necessary for people to live as independently as they can.

Those who may be interested in receiving Home Care are:

bulletpeople who have just left hospital and need short-term help before they are fully recovered
bulletpeople with long-term limitations who can manage in their own home with help
bulletpeople who have terminal illnesses and who wish to remain at home for as long as possible
bulletpeople being cared for by families, requiring relief from time to time

Services Available

Nursing Service

Nursing Services provides specialized care that assists clients in meeting their medical and personal needs. Nurses may provide:

bulletmedication administration
bulletdressing changes
bulletongoing emotional support
bulletdiabetic care
bulletI. V. therapy
bulletinstructions on care to individuals and their families.

Palliative Care

Palliative care provides personal and compassionate supportive care to the terminally ill assisting them to remain in the comfort of their homes during illness.

Home Service

Home services provides personal care assistance and some general housekeeping.

Meal Service

Meals on Wheels is a full meal delivered by a volunteer. The number of meals per week is based on your need and the availability in your community.

Frozen meals are available in some areas.

Is there an age limit?

No. Services are provided based on need, not age.

What does it cost?

Fees and subsidies will be discussed during your assessment.

How can I be referred?

Anyone can make a referral to Home Care for services.

Home Care Treatment Centre

The Home Care Treatment Center at Murrayville Healthcentre provides all Home Care nursing services for mobile clients. These services include wound dressing changes and assessments, suture and staple removal, catheter monitoring and changes, medication management including prepour and preload, injection therapy and IV therapy, both administration and maintenance.

The Centre gives our clients  the option of booking an appointment, rather than waiting at home for a Home Care Nurse.

The Home Care Treatment Centre is open five days a week from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and is located in the Pharmacy at Murrayville Health Care Centre.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

You have the right to:

bulletbe properly informed about your Home Care plan
bulletknow what is recorded in your assessment and to have the information kept confidential
bulletdecide if others, such as your family doctor, may be contacted to discuss your needs

You have the responsibility to:

bulletcooperate and participate in identifying your Home Care needs
bulletdo your part in helping to maintain your own independence
bulletnotify the Program promptly if you no longer need service or if you wish to cancel service for any reason
